God's Will

I would venture a guess that most, if not all of us, have at one time or another wondered about God’s will.  Many seem to struggle with discerning what God’s will is for their lives.  I often hear comments like, “If it is in God’s will, I will get this job,” or “I really want this relationship to work, but only if it is in God’s will.”  We continue to speak of God’s will as if there is an external God who has an established plan for every aspect of our life experience.  We assume that it is up to us to determine if the thing we desire fits into God’s plan.  This concept of God and of God’s will has the potential to deprive us of realizing the power of our own freewill choice. It is important for us to understand God’s will because it is vitally important for us to accept responsibility for our own life experience and stop assuming a passive role in deference to what we call God’s will.

When we seek God’s will in our lives, we are not seeking what God wills for our lives.  We are seeking to align our consciousness with the Consciousness of Peace, Love and Joy that is God’s will.  When we are aligned in that consciousness what we will to experience through the power of freewill choice will manifest in accord with God’s will and our willingness to be open and receptive.

 

One of the five basic Unity principles is “We experience life according to our way of thinking.”  What we experience in life is a result of our consciousness, our thoughts and emotions; it is not caused by a God who decides what is best for us and who then gives it to us or withholds it from us.  We align with God’s Will through our power of freewill choice to focus on the demonstrations of Peace, Love and Joy that we value in our lives.

Concentrated focus, whether conscious or subconscious, determines our life experience.  The subject or object of that concentrated focus is determined by our freewill choice.  Our choice then, if we are to manifest the will of God, is to consciously focus on the Peace, Love and Joy that God is, in and as each of us.  In this way we will God’s will on the earth.
